New Zealand reported 109 new locally acquired coronavirus cases on Monday, the bulk of them in its largest city, Auckland, as the country saw its second-worst day of daily infections since the pandemic began.

Despite their admission two months ago that “zero Covid“ was no longer a practical goal, New Zealand's government continues its quixotic pursuit even as cases near record levels. This even despite their Prime Minister’s push for vaccination levels of 90%  before reopening, along with a candid declaration that her intent is for covid passports to create a two-class system.
